IDC slide microscopy dashboard: when IDC Portal is not enough

We offer a range of interfaces to access data available in IDC. While most flexibility and power in searching and subsetting IDC data is provided by the idc-index and BigQuery SQL, non-technical users usually rely on IDC Portal for these tasks. But what can be done when you are a non-technical user who needs access to metadata not available in IDC Portal?..

The answer: IDC dashboards.

Think about IDC dashboards as purpose-built mini-portals focused on the specific aspects of metadata, specific collections or categories of data. IDC dashboards are built with Google Looker Studio, have access to all of the metadata in IDC, can be put together in minutes, and are rather easy to update to include additional metadata attributes.

Today we announce availability of the updated IDC Slide Microscopy dashboard!

With this dashboard you can focus on just the slide microscopy/digital pathology component of IDC data, and build your selection based on such metadata attributes as anatomic site where tissue sample was collected, assigned diagnosis or cancer type. Similar to the IDC Portal, you can still view the images that match your selection, and export selection manifests that you can use to download the corresponding image files using idc-index.

A quick demo in the video below demonstrates how to select ccdi_mci collection, and subset slides corresponding to the specific combination of anatomy and assigned diagnosis.

You will find more IDC dashboards in this documentation page: More dashboard examples | IDC User Guide.

If you would like to see any specific aspect of data made more accessible via a dashboard, or any additional fields made available in the IDC Slide Microscopy dashboard, please let us know as a response in this thread!
